AWS Future Data Center Forum 2025

Indonesia stands at a defining moment in its digital transformation journey. As demand for cloud services, AI computing, e-government platforms, and data-driven industries accelerates, the country faces a critical question: how do we build data infrastructure that is scalable, investable, secure, and sustainable?

On 4 November 2025, Obviously Sustainable was honoured to partner with Amazon Web Services (AWS) in convening the 1st AWS Future Data Centre Forum — a high-level gathering of leaders from government, industry associations, academia, and the private sector. The Forum served as a timely platform to translate Indonesia’s digital ambitions into actionable policy pathways.

A Shared Vision for 2045: A Digital, Competitive, and Sustainable Indonesia

As Indonesia moves toward its 2045 vision, robust data-centre capacity will underpin future innovations, from AI-driven healthcare and digital government to smart infrastructure and industrial automation. Participants highlighted that data centres are not merely technical assets; they are national competitiveness enablers. The forum highlighted three important discussions including, sustainability as a competitive advantage and aspects for the strengthening investment readiness & policy certainty.

Moderated by Rezha Bayu Oktavian Arief and Anisa Indah Pratiwi of Obviously Sustainable, the Forum facilitated rare, direct exchanges between institutions, including Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs (Komdigi), Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Ministry of Investment / BKPM, Indonesia Data Center Provider Organisation (IDPRO), Sucofindo, think tanks, and industry players. Notably, cross-ministry dialogues during the event catalysed new proposals for task-force collaboration, demonstrating how multi-stakeholder platforms can accelerate alignment and problem-solving.

A Foundation for Indonesia’s Data-Driven Future

The 1st AWS Future Data Centre Forum marks the beginning of a long-term collaborative journey. From regulatory harmonisation to renewable-energy integration and talent development, the discussions underscored a shared commitment: to build data-centre infrastructure that is AI-ready, sustainable, secure, and globally competitive.

As Indonesia prepares for the next wave of digital innovation, platforms like this Forum will be essential to shaping policies, partnerships, and investments that determine the country’s role in the regional and global digital ecosystem.
